Escape plans!
This morning I woke up and it looked as if our little friend was trying to escape! I had no idea he was so flexible and could climb walls! It was really cool!

Vegetarian!

Today I wanted to do an experiment and see if El Diablo would eat different kinds of vegetables. I put in a small piece of carrot and celery. Over the course of 2 days, both of them were gone! Our little friend is a vegetarian! i think he likes these way better than his green pellets! Also, I really liked this picture of him because it looked like he was waving at me with his antenna! He is a cute little guy!

El Diablo's famous!

Today lots of people wanted to reach their fingers in and pet El Diablo, even I was courageous enough to feel the little cockroach! It wasn't even that bad! I think he liked all the attention he was getting . He never even hissed! He acts scared of people at first, but then he slowly starts warming up to everyone! El Diablo and I are becoming quite attached!

He Likes to eat leaves!!

I picked up a leaf on my way home from school and decided to put it in El Diablos cage to give him extra shelter from strangers. The next morning I woke up and came to the living room and the leaf was half eaten! I guess he liked it for food more than shelter! He carried the leaf with him all around! It was pretty funny. Now, the leaf is gone!

New home!

El Diablo has a new home! He now resides in Ashley's apartment! I was not really looking forward to having this cockroach in my care, but I now think he is sort of cute, and I am attached. We have put him on a shelf in the living room in between some plants to help him feel more at home! Tonight we opened up the cage and stroked his back. At first he seemed to like this, and then he got upset because he started hissing ALOT! It was crazy! There is much excitement in this apartment because of our new roommate!

Upside- down!

What is this?!?! We've got an acrobat on our hands!

I went over to check on Diablo just now, and this is how I found him! Don't worry, he's not "belly up" in the traditional sense, he's just hiding/being his acrobatic self, apparently. His little antennae are wiggling all around, so I know he's okay!

Yesterday I caught him in the act of eating! Shocking! Unfortunately I didn't have a chance to snap a picture, but it reassured me that he's eating! Well, now I've used a lot of exclamation points! I guess I'm just excited to see something interesting, when so much of his time in the past has been frozen in one position. I don't know what changed, maybe he's just getting used to his home.

El Diablo!

So, update time. Guapo was not healthy. Emma took him back to the pet store, and they were a bit worried about his life expectancy... Oh dear! The happy thing is, they replaced him with our new friend, El Diablo! He looks the same, really, and to be honest, I'm not sure he's that much more active, but he's alive, so that's good!

He seems to have actually been eating, which is good, but I haven't seen him move around much. He hides a lot- I think he's a little afraid of all the visitors, some of whom don't quite appreciate his very chill wood-chip-like qualities. I think he'll be okay though. I'm not really sure what we can do for an experiment yet, he doesn't seem to do much no matter what we do. I guess we'll figure that out after a little more observation.

El Diablo in his favorite hiding spot.
